In the Cambridge office of Grifols UK, all secure data destruction requirements are handled by Avena Group.
When Covid-19 placed restrictions on sharing office space, the existing collection scheme was no longer viable.
The company needed a system that would ensure that all confidential documents generated and accumulated by remote workers would still be destroyed in compliance with Information Governance regulations, but without workers having to come into the office.
During this time, Avena was similarly preparing their own team for working from home.
They were also launching a new patent-pending solution for document destruction – RemoteShred®.
Grifols spoke with Avena’s customer care team to inform them of their change of circumstances and requirements.
This prompted a conversation about how Avena could support their home workers and ensure information security.
With RemoteShred, discarded confidential documents are securely contained within a compact console.
When the console is full, the home worker only presses a button or scan a QR code on the console to notify the operations team at Avena, who schedule a collection from the home address.
This also automatically emails the facilities team at Grifols and the home worker, confirming that their notification has been received.
